The wonderful, the horrible, and Miffy!

Today's post is going to be a mix of things that have been swirling around my cold-addled brain. Tomorrow's post will be more coherent, promise.

1) Sexy
I get on these listening jags where I will either listen to a song on repeat or I'll play the song every day for months until the emotional high wears off. Then I usually shelve it for a year before I revisit. One of my current favorites is Sweater Weather by the Neighborhood. For some reason I think this is the sexiest damn song I've heard all year.

2) Creepy
Mother Magoo and Aunt MacGuff went to Santa Barbara for a week to frolic in the sun. She came home with a bag of gifts for Toddler Flails-a-lot. I got this picture.
le enfant v2
I love it so much.

3) Cute
Husband-cat just read that toddlers watching television where bad behavior is modeled turn around and model that behavior, regardless of how the protagonist is punished. This may or may not be true (too tired to fact check) but it might mean we need less Thomas the Tank Engine in our lives since that show is nothing but thoughtless stupidity compounded by complete unawareness of the existence of other people.

The trains make up for their bullshit only after they're yelled at for not being "really useful engines". Also, there's a lot of class warfare "poor-people are dirty and stupid and look at their funny accents" garbage that grates on my last nerve. Oh, and they have a section of track across a wildly gyrating bridge THAT THEY NEVER FIX or even talk about fixing. This drives Husband-cat mad with engineer-based rage.

If Thomas is going to be taking some breaks, then Miffy will be our pitch hitter. Miffy is a character that has been around since 1955 and she is a perfect mid-century graphic artifact. The design is amazing, the stories are sweet and humane and the characters aren't whiny or jerks. A win all around.

There's a whole channel on youtube that is 24-hour Miffy! Claymation attaaaaack!

I could watch this all night.
