On an unrelated note (ha!). I'm now doing two and a half weeks worth of reading in the next five days. I've let go of my guilt and frustration and am focusing on getting as much as I can from the material. To that end, here is a little vignette I made for the class. We had to do a series of pictures depicting a day's worth of activity of a person or object. The goal is fiddle with the manual settings so you can get a feel of what works and what doesn't.
I could really see the possibilities with shooting on manual, because I'm always frustrated by my photographs -- especially the travel ones (shade! direct sunlight! augh!). However, I've also decided that manual shooting will be my new arch-nemesis for 2013. The iPad is too weak from the beatings inflicted on it to be much of a supervillian in our household any more (I will never forgive you, Spawn of Jobs). I hope to be proficient enough to photograph Toddler Flails-a-lot using manually adjusted settings and without looking at my notes by....let's say the end of the year. In the meantime, here's my first attempt to shoot in manual mode.
I give you: Day with Owlie.
